Australia to Norway

From 2006-2010 I sailed from Europe to Australia via the Atlantic and Pacific oceans in a 26ft Contessa named 'Constellation’. During 2019/2020 I attempted to complete the loop by traveling overland in an ex-military Land Rover 110 (Perentie), from the most southern road in Australia (South East Cape, Tasmania) to North Cape, Norway, the northernmost point accessible by car. The overland trip went around Australia along the top end, then by sea in a shipping container to South Africa, and up the continent into Europe.

In doing so I would have crossed the track of my sailing voyage and and returned to where I started in ‘Constellation’.

Expedition status: Project canceled having been interrupted by Covid-19. I was able to complete Stage 1 (Tasmania to Perth over the top end) and begin Stage 2. From Perth I shipped my Land Rover to South Africa, where I did further work on the vehicle before departing for Mozambique. Unfortunately, by the time I reached J-Bay, South Africa in March of 2020, I deemed it too risky to continue due to the pandemic. I returned to Cape Town and stored my vehicle and flew home to Australia. As the pandemic continued it became clear my dream was over - I arranged for my Land Rover to be shipped home to Australia. She landed back in Melbourne in January of 2021.
