The Anchorwatch Oilskin Blanket by Kohutt, combines a weather-resistant oilskin canvas base with natural wool insulation top, providing a durable insulation layer for rest and warmth across land, sea, and shelter. Each blanket can include optional personalisation, matching oilskin drawstring carry sack & brass corner eyelets. Designed for use at anchor, on watch, camping, the rifle range, picnics or as a general-purpose ground cloth, it functions as a primary warmth layer within our larger product system. The breathable oilskin fabric will protect you from damp or wet ground, while the wool provides an insulation layer, forming a waterproof blanket with a multitude of uses.
Historically, oilskin fabric was used by sailors to create waterproof clothing and tarpaulins from old cotton canvas sails. Our Australian-made oilskin is famous for its durability and effectiveness in protecting against the elements. Sadly oilskin manufacturing in Australia ceased in 2024 - we are working from the last remaining bolts of Australian oilskin in existence.

Optional care kit
Wool & oilskin garments have been in production for many decades, and it is recommended to follow the same garment procedures for your blanket. We recommend spot cleaning either side - DO NOT machine wash or dry clean. We offer an optional care kit which can be included with your blanket, which comes with a re-proofing agent as well as a detergent, also made in Australia.

This product is NOT fire proof, the oils in the oilskin canvas can make it flammable if it comes in contact with flames.
Waited to try the picnic blanket before posting the review. It is amazing! We had a bit of dam weather, and it stood up to it so well, and easy to dry off before packing away.
It gave us a bit of cushioning too - perfect picnic blanket for the car to whip out when needed.
10/10 - recommend and plan to use again!!!
