Our traditional oilskin tarp, made in Australia from Australian oilskin, veg tan leather reinforcing gussets, cotton webbing loops (on the 3x3 version) & brass eyelets.
Oilskin fabric was historically used by sailors to create waterproof clothing & tarpaulins from old cotton canvas sails, dipped in a secret mix of oils. Australia is famous for its oilskin, with one of the last remaining factories still manufacturing in New South Wales.
Even the eyelets on our rugs & blankets have a story, being made in outer Melbourne, Australia, inside a factory which is stamping with their original machinery, built over 100 years ago & converted from steam to electric.
Lead time
Tarps are made to order, and are subject to our standard lead time.
Personalisation (free)
Your tarp can optionally be personalised, with a leather tab sewn into the hem which could include your initials, name or a short message. After ordering, reach out to arrange your personalisation.
3x3 metre version - please read
The 3x3m version includes a ridge/seam down the centre. This seam includes square leather gussets with cotton webbing loops approximately every 1m. As per other versions, the perimeter has leather re-enforcing gussets with brass eyelets approximately every 1m. Over 20 leather gussets are required to make this tarp and a tarp of this size is very labour intensive - as such they may take a few extra days beyond our standard lead times to build.
